The Student Ministries of Grandview Park Baptist Church seeks to uphold both the nature of the church as a singular body,[1] and the nature of the family as the primary nurturer of students.[2]

The local church—the tangible expression of the universal church—is God’s plan for His wisdom to be demonstrated in this age.[3]  It is His specially designed place for believers to be firmly established and built up in their faith in order to become like His Son.[4]  It is the body of Christ (singular), yet consists of many parts (plural).  The local church functions properly when its many parts (diversity) work together for the good of the body (unity).[5]

The family is a foundational relationship of society begun at creation.[6]  God created marriage between one man and one woman to establish a family which in turn would fill the earth.[7]  The family is the basic social structure of all human relationships, and as such either helps or hinders society depending on its health.  God has designed the family to function properly when the father leads as Christ, the mother submits as the church, and children obey and honor their parents as unto the Lord.[8]  Fathers, assisted by mothers, are given the primary oversight of their children’s development, including their spiritual upbringing.[9]

The local church is vital to the family, and the family is vital to the church.
